Woodland restoration March 2024

Work is going well on the restoration. We continue to remove invasive plants, still focusing on Brazilian pepper. It's a big job, and we're grateful to the hardworking USF Rotaract volunteers.

We've also started planting natives in the wetland area, including blue flag iris, swamp canna, Carolina willow, and soft rush, which like wet, often flooded areas.

One of the joys of the project is discovering little treasures that were hidden under the dense growth of Brazilian peppers, such as these native blackberries.

In the periphery of the woodlands, we're planting native species, such as Pinxter azalea and Darrow's blueberry.
