Creepy Crawlies at VISTA Gardens

The second annual Creepy Crawlies in the Garden event was a HUGE success! We had the largest turnout of any of our educational community festivals to date.

So many people of all ages showed up that we ran out of scavenger hunt maps and food. We got a lot of great feedback from participants as well as some cool ideas for next time.

The goal of the event was to promote awareness and appreciation of all the insects that keep our local ecosystem running smoothly.

We know that when people can get up close to a bee hive or an isopod, can taste an ant and see that even plants like to taste ants, take their own insect creation home, or cosplay as a bug for the day, a soft spot is placed in their heart the next time they get up close to an insect in their home or yard.

Thanks to all of our attendees, Sickles HS student volunteers and vendors for collaborating in VISTA Gardens' mission of education and community engagement!
