Recipients of the Tampa Bay Estuary Program’s (TBEP) Golden Mangrove Award on May 16, congratulations go to Elizabeth Warner, Chair, Woodland Committee, along with Vicki Kuse, Gail Myers, Ann Wallace and Liz Vicario.
Joining in the recognition ceremony were representatives of the USF Rotaract Club, Angela Atta-Armah, Co-President, and Trong Vo, past Projects Chair. USF Rotaract members and members of Sickles High School National Honor Society worked tirelessly over the past two years removing invasive species and replacing them with Florida native trees, shrubs, grasses, vines, ferns, and wildflowers.
The Golden Mangrove is presented to the most outstanding project among recipients of TBEP mini-grants each year. The Woodland Committee was rec
ognized for “exceptional work and reporting of the Woodland Restoration Project.” The Woodland Committee extends many thanks to all who helped.
They are continuing to work on making the woodland area more accessible, so all can enjoy this beautiful setting. Volunteer opportunities are available.
